  • Doves Rest Cabins Announces Ground Breaking of New Cabin

    Doves Rest Cabins announces the ground breaking of their 4th new cabin called “Comanche”. This 1,440 sq. ft. 2-bed, 2-bath cabin will be built to accommodate people with mobility issues in accordance with ADA guidelines. With no steps, 30” doorways and an open universal floor plan, additional room in bathrooms, plus roll in shower facilities, this cabin is another first for Doves Rest Cabins to allow access to any persons with or without disabilities. The planned opening is May 2016, and pre-reservation will be available online in January 2016.

The layout of SkyHouse Cabin combined with ChairLift Cabin close proximity provided great security and seclusion for the Senators visit according to Garrett Ruskin, Special Agent for the U.S. Capitol Police Department.

    Doves Rest Cabins is proud to announce the grand opening of a new constructed home, 1,000 sq. ft. 2-bed, 2 bath luxury home called “ChairLift” Cabin. This “aerial lift” of a cabin takes its name from the Sky Ride concession that operated at Palo Duro Canyon State Park in the 1960’s. The original ride’s abutment is sitting next to this cabin reminiscent of the good-old-by-gone-days when station wagons and family vacations were the norm, and state parks were a favorite place to take them.

The stronghold of Fortress Cabin takes its name for the centerpiece of its view gazing at the Fortress Cliffs along the east rim of Palo Duro Canyon State Park, a protected six miles of cliffs overlooking the “Grand Canyon of Texas”.
