A month ago, we did not know the term social distancing. Now it is used every day. But in a way, Doves Rest Cabins on the rim of Palo Duro Canyon has always practiced social distancing. A visit to Doves Rest has always been about seclusion, privacy and making memories.

Here are some things to know about Doves Rest, right now.

First, we are open. All nine cabins are available for booking. And since all the arrangements are handled in advance either online or over the phone, our “lobbyless” resort concept makes checking in and checking out contactless. No reason to go to the State Park. Your emotional well-being and time of rest with nature are what our cabins provide.
Second, we are clean. All our cabins are given a top to bottom cleaning and disinfection after each guest checks out. So, all our future guests are assured that their cabin is more than 5-star clean and will be healthy.

Third, is the COVID-19 outbreak serious in our area? Well, it is taken seriously by all our staff and area residents. Fortunately, the fact is our guests are completely self-contained in their own private environment nestled next to splendid wildlife and awe-inspiring views encompassing over 30,000 un-spoiled acres.

Fourth, what about “shelter-in-place?” It’s very important and needs to be followed. We would never ask someone to stop their own “shelter-in-place.” But when you’re ready to get out and feel comfortable travelling, Doves Rest is easy to reach from DFW, OKC, ABQ and other areas. We are, and always will be, social distancing at its best.

Fifth, area services are open- supermarkets, Walmart, gas stations, banks, and everyone is going out of their way to promote good health habits. It is most important to stay healthy, Texas. Again, Doves Rest Cabins is, and always will be, social distancing at its best.

Doves Rest Management, LLC operator of Doves Rest Cabins luxury Vacation Home Resort announced it has acquired an additional 25 acres of un-development land for future expansion of the luxury home short term rental market according to Jeff Means, President of Doves Rest Management. “Our expansion includes constructing and opening more new single-family homes to serve the needs of travelers who seek the ultimate views and our excellent location to Palo Duro Canyon State Park.”

Doves Rest Cabins is proud to announce the grand opening of a new constructed home, 1,000 sq. ft. 2-bed, 2 bath luxury home called “ChairLift” Cabin. This “aerial lift” of a cabin takes its name from the Sky Ride concession that operated at Palo Duro Canyon State Park in the 1960’s. The original ride’s abutment is sitting next to this cabin reminiscent of the good-old-by-gone-days when station wagons and family vacations were the norm, and state parks were a favorite place to take them. A series of chairlift seats moved excited park visitors from the canyon floor hundreds of feet above to the top of a mesa that can be seen below from this cabin. ChairLift Cabin is the perfect Palo Duro Escape for the nostalgic and adventuress traveler.

ChairLift is a two-bedroom, two- full bath, in a very functional and cozy 1,000 sq. ft. design. The cabin features a wood burning fireplace, covered patio and built in outdoor BBQ grill.
